About Us

Dr Amy Martin & Dr Alexandra Pittock
Consultant Psychiatrists
We started The Mind & Psychiatry Clinic with the goal to give people a safe, compassionate space to discuss their mental health. We are a female-led psychiatry practice with over 20 years combined experience working both privately and in the NHS. We are passionate about providing a comprehensive, transparent service to address a growing need, especially given the current challenges in accessing mental health services.
We believe in providing a person-centred, holistic approach to assessments and treatment plans. Our approach is always evidence-based and follows national guidelines set by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK Adult ADHD Network and NICE.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a GP referral?
No. We are happy to accept self-referrals. You are welcome to provide a letter from your GP or another professional if you wish.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
We aim to offer prompt access to assessment and treatment. We do not currently have a waiting list. If you cannot find an appointment time that suits you then contact us and we will do our best to fit you in.
What happens when I book an appointment?
When you book online you will be asked to provide information about your concerns. You can choose your preferred clinician, a time that suits your needs and decide whether you want to attend in-person or online. Our clinicians will review your form and contact you before your appointment if we need any more information.
Do you offer online psychiatric appointments in Scotland?
Yes, we are happy to see patients for assessment across the UK. All our assessments can be conducted online and we offer remote prescribing. Please note that we cannot assess or prescribe for patients outside the UK.
Will the NHS accept a private diagnosis?
Your GP and the NHS are not obliged to accept private diagnoses or take over your care and treatment. Following your assessment we provide you with a comprehensive report, which you can share with your GP. Our assessments are widely accepted and we will do our best to work with your GP to support your care and treatment. Any shared care, however, is entirely at your GP’s discretion and we recommend you check with them in advance.
Do you offer shared care for ADHD with my GP?
We are happy to support shared care agreements for ADHD with your GP, once you are stable on medication. Please note, however, that many GPs no longer offer shared care and this is at their discretion. We recommend you check with your GP in advance.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not offer emergency, crisis or out-of-hours services. Please contact NHS via 111, or 999 if it is an emergency.
